Who’s really responsible for your cravings?

YUM!

Do you OFTEN crave certain foods which you know are ‘special occasion’ treats? Chances are, it may not be YOU craving that icecream, cake or chocolate, it may be your sneaky little gut fungi down there hollering to be fed!

Quick test: Go to the nearest mirror & poke your tongue out. Does your tongue have a whitish or yellow coating? If you answered yes, you very likely have an overgrowth of Candida. (this is just one simple way to test)

Typically, the healthy bacteria in your body keep Candida levels under control. However, if healthy bacteria levels are disrupted or the immune system is compromised, Candida can begin to overproduce. No need to be horrified – it is quite common.

BUT – common does not mean normal. So, although you are not alone, you don’t want to live with an overgrowth of these opportunistic little suckers!

Many people think of Candida as thrush – that only women get it, and that it’s something to do with ‘down below’ being itchy, uncomfortable and you solve it with a short-term medication and it’s gone (or that you suffer with it your whole life – despite medication!). However – it affects men, babies and kids too; and there are a huge array of symptoms which can indicate Candida overgrowth:

Bloating and/or gas – those little beasties can very quickly ferment glucose and maltose to gas

Depression and/or Anxiety

Cravings for sugar & dairy, & even gluten

Itchy skin

Recurring sinus and ear infections

Recurring urinary and bladder infections

Endometriosis or cysts

Eczema or acne

Reactions to probiotics (you are already overloaded with bacteria)

Thrush, athlete’s foot, fungal fingernails and toenails

Chronic fatigue

Irritability, low tolerance levels

Intolerance to beer

Cravings for dairy products, then feeling bad after consuming them (?!)

And more….

The good news is, once we recognise that it is an issue, we can do something to change it. If any of the above symptoms sound familiar to you, let me know.

And…… let’s stop those little beasties SCREAMING FOR ICECREAM!
